Calzadilla de los Hermanillos to Reliegos

3 October 2024

We stayed in Albergue Las Hadas (meaning, the fairies). In 2020, the owner of the Albergue had been living in her van, found this building, decided to open the Albergue, then COVID hit, and there was a countrywide lockdown! This Albergue was the 1st one we have stayed at that only had a totally vegan pilgrims meal. She was bottle feeding the most adorable little black kitten that she found on her doorstep and was only about 2 weeks old, her very large dog was constantly checking on and protecting the kitten.

We watched a group of men from the village play a card game and they were having the greatest time playing cards while drinking coffee.

Several pilgrims said that the "famous" Bar Elvis opened at 7 pm. Of course, we had no idea what they were all talking about, so of course we had to go see for ourselves. We had walked past the building several times but thought it was an abandoned building. 🤣 There was graffiti on the entire outside of the building, and when we walked inside, there were writings from past pilgrims on every inch of the walls, the bar, the ceiling, the door frame and the tables. The owner was having so much fun behind the bar and I loved all the dogs inside the bar with their humans

“All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring; renewed shall be blade that was broken, the crownless again shall be king.”
