Today was our walk to Cruz de Ferro. It is the highest point on the Camino Frances standing at 1,504 meters (approximately 1 mile) above sea level. It is a place where pilgrims either pick up a rock on their way up or bring one from home in a symbolic gesture to leave their burdens behind.

It was a beautiful and emotional day.

“All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring; renewed shall be blade that was broken, the crownless again shall be king.”
