Puente de Reina to Estella, 18-19 September 2024

Long day of walking lead to some wonderful blisters and a trip to the clinic to pull a toenail that was one of the recipients of a blister under the nail. The long days of walking are hard of the feet and resting for the night is a welcome relief. Some days are exhausting beyond what we initially envisioned this journey would be, but even with all the aches and pains we continue to move forward. When we think that it's just us feeling this way we come across other pilgrims that have their own set of challenges and are feeling the exact same way. We have met some of the most wonderful people along this journey. People in the cities are always so friendly and if we are looking for the trail they tell us which way to go as they say "buen camino." The trail is very well marked. In towns it's marked on the side of buildings, on the sidewalks embedded in the tile and sometimes in the trees as we walk through the countryside, sometimes as simple as a spray painted yellow arrow on a rock. Laughter at times is the best way to keep us motivated because it's better than crying.

“All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring; renewed shall be blade that was broken, the crownless again shall be king.”
