"These mountains that you are carrying, you were only supposed to climb." - Najwa Zebian

They say that the first part of the Camino Frances is physical, and it was very physical with steep rocky inclines and steep rocky descents.

The second part of the Camino passes through the Maseta, which is the central plateau or tableland of Spain. It is a time when you are in your mind with thought. It is mostly flat with fields of alfalfa, corn, and wheat. There are few trees for shade and fewer places to get water.

The third part of the Camino is spiritual. Many people think that the Camino is a Catholic thing, but spiritually, in all different forms are out here on the Camino, and it means so many different things to everyone out here. We have met people who are Shaman, Buddhist, Atheist, Hindu, Catholic, and others who are searching for something that they aren't quite sure of yet.

Whether you are walking, riding a bike, traveling by horseback, or having to get a taxi/bus/train to the next destination, it is still YOUR Camino.

Santiago never said that you need to mutilate your body to get there. He just said that you need to get there. As one person said yesterday; all those years ago, if a horse and buggy came along, don't you think that people didn't jump on if they could?

“All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, a light from the shadows shall spring; renewed shall be blade that was broken, the crownless again shall be king.”

~ JRR Tolkien's
